Being a Georgia Insurance Agent

Georgia insurance comes in many forms.  There are hundreds of different policy forms in Georgia.  It is hard to know all of them.  You just don't go into to the business and start selling insurance.  You have to learn about all kinds if contracts.

One of the first things that you do is get licensed. That can take a week long course in a particular type of insurance.  Then you have to take an exam and pass it.  You have to get licensed in more than one line of insurance to be an insurance agent.  It is constant education as in most businesses.  Today you need to be computer literate.  Everything is automated.  Once you have taken courses and gained experience you have a chance to be a good Georgia insurance agent.  There is one more big requirement to be a good agent.  You have to learn to sell.  That means you need to know people as much as your product.  Also, you need to know how to close a sale.  Many people have great difficulty closing the sale.  Nothing really happens until a policy is sold and the money is gotten.  That is the way an agent becomes successful.  You also have to have integrity to be successful over the long haul.  Unethical practices will catch up with you eventually.
